IBM Tape Diagnostic Tool (ITDT) v5.0 offers multiple functional capabilities that simplify the task of maintaining IBM tape products.
Download Description
The IBM Tape Diagnostic Tool (ITDT) is available in two versions:
Standard Edition (ITDT-SE) – This is a command line version. Invoke it by entering the executable from the directory where the tool is located. The Help feature gives a brief explanation of each function and shows the required syntax.
Graphical Edition (ITDT-GE) – This is a GUI version for the following:
– Microsoft Windows operating systems (Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 (32-bit x86) and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 (64-bit x64 ) [with a 64-bit JVM].
– Linux operating systems (Linux Distributions with Kernel 2.6, glibc 2.2.5 and later (X86))
Both versions provide the user with a single diagnostic program for tapeutil applications.
The ITDT Tool offers multiple functional capabilities that simplify the task of updating tape and library firmware. It is available for most major platforms and requires no special device drivers. In addition to the executable file, a README file is also provided. Note that this Readme only contains issues and limitations that did not make it into the IBM Tape Diagnostic Tool documentation which is now part of the IBM Tape Device Drivers Installation and User’s Guide.
Note: The term tapeutil is a synonym for the tool that was delivered with the device driver. This new version of ITDT now supports and and replaces the tape utility program (tapeutil) provided by the device driver. Instructions for ITDT can be found in the IBM Tape Device Drivers Installation and User’s Guide in chapter “IBM Tape Diagnostic Tool(ITDT).
