Data Centers today are dealing with two storage challenges simultaneously. The first is the tremendous growth of data and the second is new demands for higher performance, which is being compounded by the mixture of workloads that storage systems are now expected to support. In the past this would have led to the hiring of additional IT staff; but in these do-more-with-even-less times, IT has to come up with an alternative to “throwing people at the problem”. As a result data center managers are looking to next generation storage systems to help them meet these storage challenges without having to hire additional staff.
