Abstract
There is a low probability known issue that can cause a loss of access to data if a drive upgrade procedure fails.
Customers are strongly recommended not to perform any drive upgrades if they are running V6.1.0.x, V6.2.0.x or V6.3.0.x levels.
Content
If a drive upgrade fails to complete for some reason, there is a small chance that a SVC or Storwize V7000 system running V6.1.0.x, V6.2.0.x or V6.3.0.x may experience a temporary loss of access to all volumes. This issue only affects upgrading drives within the Storwize V7000 Enclosures or Solid State Drives inside 2145-CF8 or 2145-CG8 SVC nodes. It does not affect upgrading drives in external storage systems.
Customers are therefore strongly recommended not to perform any drive upgrades on the above levels.
There are currently no known drive issues which require customers to upgrade drives.
This issue has been addressed in the V6.4.0.0 release.
