Technote Reference #S1004291

Problem(Abstract)

Node canisters running releases V6.4.1.0 to V6.4.1.4 will fail to boot if any USB stick is present in the node canister.

Symptom

Canisters will fail to boot and will display an orange fault LED if a USB stick is present. This is most commonly observed during an upgrade of V7000 software.

Cause

The BIOS version in the affected levels is not booting from attached storage devices in the correct order.

Resolving the problem

If the system has failed to boot with a USB stick inserted, then you should remove the USB stick then reseat the node canister to allow the boot process to proceed. Take care to ensure that the correct node canister is reseated.

It is strongly recommended to remove all USB sticks from node canisters running the affected levels and before upgrading to any of the affected levels.
