Latest Management Information Base (MIB) file missing from Storage Manager (SM) client 10.83.X5.18 package – IBM System Storage

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Manager received an object identifier (OID) which is not defined in the SM10_R2.MIB included in IBM DS Storage Manager Client 10.83.G5.18 package:

Correct OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.1123.4.500.2 for storageArrayCritical

Incorrect OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1123.1.500.0.2 for storageArrayCritical

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • DS4400 (FAStT700) Storage Server, type 1742, any model
  • DS4500 (FAStT900) Storage Server, type 1742, any model
  • DS4700 Storage Server, type 1814, any model
  • DS4800 Storage Server, type 1815, any model
  • IBM System Storage DCS3700 Storage Subsystem, type 1818, any model
  • IBM System Storage DS3200, type 1726, any model
  • IBM System Storage DS3300, type 1726, any model
  • IBM System Storage DS3400, type 1726, any model
  • IBM System Storage DS3512, type 1746, any model

Solution

The fix for this issue is contained in an updated Management Information Base (MIB) file which will be contained in a future Storage Manager Client package.

The target date for the release of this updated Storage Manager Client package is scheduled for fourth quarter 2012.

The file is or will be available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support’s Fix Central web page here

Workaround

The following updated MIB file can be used in place of the MIB file in the current Storage Manager Client 10.83.x5.18 package:
