The new drives provide eight more layers than the first generation of three-dimensional V-NAND flash memory and will be targeted to high-end PCs as well as data centers.
In the race to squeeze more data into the same storage form factors, Samsung rolled out its first solid-state drives using three-dimensional vertical NAND flash memory, which stacks 24 cell layers on top of one another, late last summer.
