It seems like forever ago that we began, and it’s time to keep the ball rolling with our OpenStack Havana All-in-One build on VMware Workstation series that had become idle in the last little while.

Lot’s of great feedback has been coming in and one of the key things that we wanted to do to get to our next step was to enable OpenStack Block Storage, also known as Cinder.

Mellanox Announces OpenStack InfiniBand and Ethernet Interconnect Solutions

Mellanox today announced that it will be the first certified end-to-end interconnect vendor for OpenStack’s forthcoming Havana distribution. Mellanox 10/40GbE and FDR 56Gb/s adapters and switches can be matched with OpenStack Cinder block storage, OpenStack Neutron networking, and OpenStack Nova compute components in order to support cloud services vendors.

Rapid Evolution – OpenStack Is Growing Up

The Havana release of OpenStack was launched on October 17, about three weeks prior to the OpenStack Summit in Hong Kong.  As always, there are many new features -high availability, load balancing, easier upgrades, plugins for development tools, improved SDN support, fiber channel SAN support, improved bare metal capabilities- and even two new core components, Ceilometer -metering and monitoring- and Heat -orchestration of the creation of entire application environments- to admire. Without any doubt, OpenStack is becoming more enterprise ready with each new release.
